“Present an Advertisement that can change perspectives through role play”

Objective: The purpose of this activity was to help students develop critical thinking and media literacy by teaching them to analyse and interpret persuasive messages. They raise awareness about social issues, innovations, and consumer choices, fostering informed decision-making.

A group of 3 students from each house from classes VI to VIII participated in the activity.

Each house selected a product to advertise. They incorporated a social message such as environmental conservation, health awareness, road safety, and kindness. The advertisements were presented in the form of role plays, allowing students to creatively enact real-life scenarios to effectively convey their message.

Each group prepared a script and assigned roles to team members. They used props, posters, and costumes to make their presentations more impactful. The role plays included dialogues, slogans, and catchy jingles to engage the audience. The performances were evaluated by HM (Sr.) Ms. Amita Ganjoo based on Clarity of speech and pronunciation, Team Coordination, Creativity and innovation, Time limit and Overall presentation. Shivaji house and Raman house stood first while Ashoka house and Tagore house got second position.

Students displayed enthusiasm and creativity in their presentations. The messages conveyed were thought-provoking and well-integrated with the product promotion. They emotions, and storytelling techniques to engage the audience.

The activity helped enhance students’ confidence, communication skills, and social awareness. It not only developed their marketing skills but also instilled a sense of responsibility toward important societal issues.

Purpose:

The activity began with a brief explanation of fractals, their properties, and examples like the Koch Snowflake, Sierpinski Triangle, and fractals observed in nature, such as ferns and snowflakes. By engaging in a blindfolded exercise, students learned to rely on their sense of touch to identify different textures and materials. The activity also aimed to encourage creativity in designing and presenting sensory boxes, while fostering a sense of teamwork and inclusivity.

Introduction to Sensory Exploration: The activity began with an introduction to the challenges faced by differently abled individuals, particularly those with visual impairments. Students learned that people without sight rely on their other senses, especially touch, to understand their surroundings. To simulate this experience, students were blindfolded and asked to identify materials inside boxes based on texture. The materials included soft cotton, rough sandpaper, smooth stones, and bumpy fabric, encouraging students to use their tactile senses. This exercise made students more aware of the importance of touch in daily life, as they relied on their hands to differentiate between objects. Class I- Relay Race

The "Run for Fun" relay race was a thrilling event for students of Class 1. Students were divided into teams and they competed against each other in a series of exciting races. The relay race was a great way to promote teamwork, sportsmanship, and a love for physical activity among the students.

Class II-Lemon & Spoon Race

Chasers had to coordinate with their teammates to strategize and tag runners, while runners communicated their movements to avoid being tagged. Purpose: Students will learn that ISI Mark certifies that a product conforms to an Indian Standard Institute (ISI)developed by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), the national standards body of India. Students will be able to identify ISI-certified products and understand their importance in food safety.

Highlights of the activity: As part of the World Food Day celebrations, a special activity was conducted for grade 2 students to introduce them to the concept of quality control, with a focus on the Indian Standards Institute (ISI) certification. A PowerPoint presentation was shown, highlighting the importance of food safety and quality standards in ensuring that the food we eat is safe and of high quality.

The session began with a brief introduction to World Food Day and its significance, followed by an explanation of the role of ISI in maintaining quality standards for various food products. The students were introduced to the ISI mark, commonly found on packaged goods, and learned how it guarantees that the product has met specific safety and quality requirements.

The presentation used engaging visuals and examples, which helped the young students understand the importance of quality control in a simple and fun way. They were encouraged to ask questions and share their own experiences with food packaging and safety at home.

The students actively participated throughout the session. They were especially enthusiastic when identifying ISI-marked products from pictures and real-life examples provided during the presentation. Some students also shared stories about how they had seen these marks at home but hadn’t understood their meaning until now.

The session concluded with a small quiz to reinforce what they had learned. The students showed great interest in the topic and demonstrated a good understanding of the importance of food safety and quality standards.

Overall, the activity was successful in not only raising awareness about food safety and ISI certification but also in engaging the students in a meaningful discussion about the importance of consuming safe and high-quality food products.

The Nutrition Detectives activity was conducted to enhance students’ awareness of the importance of making healthy food choices. The activity aligns with the theme of World Food Day and promotes health, well-being, and nutrition literacy among children.

Introduction to Food Labels:

Students were tasked with bringing clean wrappers from three specific food items (potato chips, biscuits, and chocolate bars). They were introduced to the concept of reading food labels and identifying key nutritional components such as calories, sugar content, vitamins, and total fat. The goal was to empower students to understand how food labels tell a story about health and nutrition.

Building Analytical Skills:

The students compiled their findings into an observation table and compared nutritional information to determine the healthiest choice. They analyzed various factors such as sugar levels, vitamins, and fat content. This process helped them build critical thinking and analytical skills, encouraging a deeper understanding of food choices.

Each student independently analyzed food labels, uncovering details such as calories, sugar, vitamins, and fat content. By filling out their own observation tables in their EVS/Science notebooks, they developed critical thinking skills and took personal responsibility for identifying healthier food options. Purpose
As part of the Swachh Bharat Mission, launched in 2014, the Cleanliness Relay Race aims to promote awareness about cleanliness and hygiene, fostering a sense of responsibility among young citizens to make India cleaner, greener, and healthier.

Objective
To instill the values of cleanliness and hygiene among students of Classes 1 and 2 through an engaging inter-class relay race, encouraging teamwork and healthy competition.

Key Highlights of the Activity:

Raising Awareness: Educated participants on the importance of cleanliness and hygiene.
Teamwork and Collaboration: Fostered teamwork and communication skills through relay race format.

Sorting of waste into different bins

The "Sorting waste into Different Bins" activity aimed to educate students on the importance of waste segregation and proper disposal. Participants were introduced to two labeled bins: Blue (Recyclable), and Green (Organic). Students then sorted various waste materials, such as paper, plastic, glass, and food scraps, into their respective bins. Through this hands-on exercise, students learned to identify and categorize different types of waste, understanding the significance of recycling, composting, and reducing landfill waste. By instilling this habit from a young age, the activity promoted environmental responsibility, conservation of natural resources, and a cleaner, healthier community.

The "Sorting Garbage into Different Bins" activity also honed students' critical thinking skills as they analyzed and categorized various materials. This hands-on approach fostered problem-solving abilities, encouraging students to think creatively about waste management and sustainability.

This activity extended beyond the classroom, encouraging students to share their newfound knowledge with family and friends. Participants contributed to a cleaner, healthier community by promoting waste segregation practices, and fostering a sense of civic responsibility and environmental stewardship.

Students learned to sort garbage into two bins: Blue (recyclable), and Green (organic). This interactive activity taught waste segregation, promoting environmental responsibility and a cleaner community.

It was found that the students showed keen interest in the act of cleanliness and almost all the students were able to identify and segregate the waste. During their lunch time also students were able to segregate the waste on their own. During their fruit break, students were self-aware to keep the fruit/salad left out in the green dustbin, thus making them responsible and sensitive citizens.

CONCLUSION:

Every student gave their 100% to win the race. All the students irrespective of their age, class and gender participated enthusiastically. The result of the same is attached as under:

Kabaad Se Jugaad- The 'Turning Trash into Treasure' initiative, held on September 25th (Preliminary Round) and October 3rd (Final Round), empowered students in grades III-V to become sustainability champions. This creative endeavor transformed discarded materials into stunning works of art, fostering teamwork, and problem-solving. The "Turning Trash into Treasure" activity was creative and engaging. It promoted sustainability and fostered crucial skills in students. Students collaborated in groups and transformed discarded materials into innovative, and visually appealing art pieces.

This hands-on project catalyzed creativity, encouraging students to think outside the box and explore unconventional ways to utilize waste materials. The collaborative nature of the activity fostered teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills as students worked together to bring their ideas to life.

In the final round, the presentation component of the project allowed students to develop their public speaking and communication skills, as they confidently shared their creations with their peers.

By upcycling waste, students gained a deeper appreciation for environmental conservation and the importance of reducing waste. “Innovative and artistic cover for a specified theme i.e The Food Magazine

Objective: The purpose of this activity was to inspire students from classes XI and XII to engage in hands-on creativity by designing a handmade cover for a food magazine. This project was aimed to develop artistic skills, foster appreciation for food culture, and enhance visual storytelling.

Participation included individual representation from each house of class XI or XII.

Students began by exploring existing food magazines for design ideas, paying attention to layouts, colour schemes, and visual elements. They drew inspiration from different food themes, such as traditional recipes, healthy eating, or street food. They created sketches and drafted ideas, considering how to visually convey their chosen theme.

Students gathered various materials, including paper, fabric, recycled items, water colour, poster colour, acrylic colour and merge it with stylish calligraphy and meticulously crafted their covers, focusing on layout, typography, and colour harmony. Covers also featured illustrations of food items and catchy titles or taglines. Some students added personal touches, like recipes or tips, to make their cover stand out.

Students demonstrated diverse artistic styles and innovative approaches to design, using a variety of materials and techniques which improved their skills in drawing, painting, and crafting, gaining confidence in their artistic abilities. Many designs showcased cultural dishes and ingredients, highlighting the diversity of culinary traditions.

This activity not only fostered creativity but also provided students with valuable insights into the world of food journalism and design. The covers created were not only visually appealing but also rich in concept, highlighting the students' understanding of food as a cultural and artistic subject. Purpose:
In our endeavor to catch our early learners and keeping the goal of holistic development, Book Mark Making Activity was organized for the students of classes 1-3. It marked the celebration of World Literacy Day where students were encouraged to read a book and create a book mark based on their favourite character.

Highlights of the activity:
Introduction
Students of classes 1,2 and 3 participated with great enthusiasm in the activity and thoroughly enjoyed creating the bookmarks based on their favourite story character. They exhibited their creative skills by making bookmarks of varied characters like Mickey and Minnie, Peppa Pig, Sleeping Beauty, My Little Pony, Pokémon, Goldilocks, Little Krishna, Dora-the explorer, Rapunzel and many more.

Creative Display
The best three bookmarks were selected by the respective class teachers of each class and the selected ones were adjudged by Mr. Niladri S Das, TGT Art. The best three bookmarks from each class respectively were selected on the basis of their relevance to the theme, neatness, creativity and the overall presentation. The creative bookmarks not only exhibited the interest and skills of the students but a feast for the eyes of the spectators.

Reading and Comprehension
Children got the opportunity to explore books, read stories and analyze their characters and story line for better comprehension. This aroused their interest in reading and children read age-appropriate storybooks. Thinking and analytical skills of the children also got enhanced as they identified their favourite character to make a creative bookmark.

The Hindi Diwas celebration aimed to raise awareness about the importance of the Hindi language among students. The key focus was on enhancing vocabulary and language skills, fostering better communication abilities in the young learners.

As part of the 75th Hindi Diwas Anniversary, Bal Bharati Public School organized a week-long celebration from September 10 to 17, 2024. Various engaging activities were planned for the primary school students, with each class participating in unique tasks that enhanced their knowledge and love for the Hindi language:

-Class I: Creation of word chains using paper cutouts in various shapes.
- Class II: Word Antakshari competition.
- Class III: Completing incomplete stories.
- Class IV and V: Kabir Das Doha Recital.

The Kabir Das Doha Recital, featuring students from Classes IV and V, was the centerpiece of the Hindi Diwas celebration. The event took place in two rounds, where selected students showcased their talents, impressing the judges with their understanding and rendition of Kabir's timeless dohas. Their performances were judged, and the top performers were awarded prizes based on their recitations.

वसुधैव कुटुम्बकम् का जो पाठ पढ़ा दे, वह है संस्कृत भाषा”

उद्देश्य: संस्कृत भाषा देवभाषा है और कई भाषाओं- बोलियों की जननी भी है ।भारत की लगभग हर भाषा का उद्गम संस्कृत से ही हुआ है । हमारी संस्कृति की सबसे पुरानी भाषा संस्कृत ही है । वेदों की रचना इसी भाषा में होने के कारण इसे वैदिक भाषा भी कहत हैं। छात्रों में प्राचीन भारतीय सांस्कृतिक धरोहर के प्रति प्रेम को प्रोत्साहित करने तथा पारंपरिक ग्रंथों की जानकारी को गहरा करने के लिए बाल भारती पब्लिक स्कूल ,नोएडा में 28 अगस्त, 2024 को संस्कृत श्लोक संगीत गायन गतिविधि का आयोजन किया गया। कक्षा I तथा कक्षा II के सभी विद्यार्थियों ने इस गतिविधि में भाग लिया। गतिविधि का उद्देश्य छात्रों के बीच संस्कृत साहित्य की समझ और सराहना को बढ़ावा देना था।

गतिविधि के मुख्य अंश:

छात्रों ने विभिन्न ग्रंथों, जैसे भगवद गीता, वेद और विभिन्न उपनिषद में संकलित विभिन्न श्लोकों का गायन किया | संस्कृत श्लोक गायन गतिविधि सफल रही और इसके उद्देश्यों को प्रभावी ढंग से प्राप्त किया:

Purpose:

Folk art of India is a vibrant expression of the country's rich cultural diversity and traditions. It includes various art forms such as Madhubani from Bihar, Warli from Maharashtra and Gond Art from Madhya Pradesh. These art forms are passed down through generations and reflect the everyday lives, beliefs, and rituals of the communities that create them. Bal Sabha activity focusing on the folk art of India was organised for the students of classes III-V to enhance their connection with India’s heritage.

Highlights of the activity:

Introducing idea of traditional and folk art:In this activity, students got introduced to the idea of traditional and folk art and were also able to develop their own understanding of the folk art by unleashing their own creativity and experience. The students learned about the folk tradition of Gond art and its cultural relevance as the students got the opportunity of recreating their own Gond art patterns and forms. The students were hence able to bring India’s folk art to life on paper by learning about origins, techniques and symbolic meanings of Gond art.

Building artistic skills of the students

Students enthusiastically participated in the creative art activity where they explored India'srich folk art traditions. Using A4 sheets, theycreated beautiful and vibrant artworks inspired by styles like Madhubani, Warli, and Gond Art.

Each student carefully chose a folk-art style that resonated with them, filling their papers with intricate patterns. To make the activity more meaningful, they also included slogans related to independence, reflecting their thoughts on freedom and patriotism.

The combination of folk art and independenceslogans resulted in a powerful visual representation of India’s cultural heritage and the students' pride in their country. RakshaBandhan, a cherished Indian festival, symbolizes the bond between siblings. Sisters tie a sacred thread (Rakhi) on their brothers' wrists, signifying love and protection.

Our soldiers, selflessly live far from home, enduring challenging conditions, to protect our nation. Handmade Rakhis sent to soldiers at the border serve as tokens of gratitude and support. These heartfelt gestures boost their morale, reminding them of the love and appreciation they fight to protect, providing emotional strength during challenging times.

On 14 August, 2024, in a heartwarming and patriotic gesture, students from classes I and II came together to participate in a Rakhi making and decorating activity dedicated to our brave soldiers. This event was a touching tribute to the valiant men and women in uniform who safeguard our nation. The purpose of the event was to celebrate the cherished Indian festival of RakshaBandhan and to encourage artistic expression among the students.

The activity was a delightful educational experience which not only allowed the students to learn about the significance of RakshaBandhan but also channelized their creativity into a powerful expression of gratitude for our soldiers. It was a wonderful opportunity for students to express their admiration and appreciation for our soldiers. The activity required students to write one healthy habit inside the handprint. This hands-on activity was designed to foster self-awareness and reinforce positive behaviors in an enjoyable manner.

The activity not only engaged students creatively but also made them conscious of their daily routines and choices. The activity was a great success and had a significant impact on the students. By writing down their healthy habits, students became more aware of the importance of following good practices, such as eating nutritious food, washing hands regularly, and staying active. The creative approach helped them internalize these habits. The Healthy Habits activity for Classes I and II was an excellent initiative that combined creativity with learning. Our world is like a grand masquerade ball, where each culture dons its unique mask and steps onto the dance floor This dance, this exchange of traditions and perspectives, is more than mere spectacle; it’s the heartbeat of our shared humanity. It paves the way to empathy, understanding, and growth within the hearts of people.

At Bal Bharati Public School, Noida (the best school in Noida),young students celebrated World Population Day 2024 with a unique twist. They brought in objects and props that represent their family traditions and cultures, sharing a glimpse into the special meaning these traditions hold for their loved ones.

Theme: Population Explosion: ‘A Ticking Time Bomb or a Myth

Sustainable development begins with responsible population management”

World population day is commemorated every year to generate awareness among people about the effects of overpopulation and the pressing need of population management. In order to observe World Population Day in school, a Bal Sabha activity was convened for classes III to V, to delve into the critical issue of population explosion. A debate on the contentious topic of population explosion was planned for the students so as to help them formulate an opinion and develop their own knowledge on this pertaining issue.

For the debate, different topics were given to the students of classes III to V. For class III the topic was, too many people v/s Too few people in country, for class IV, the topic was, Overpopulation v/s Under population and for class V, the topic was, Overpopulation is a bigger problem than under population. The students were asked to prepare roll number wise and then they were paired to speak, for the motion and against the motion. Students presented exemplary points of arguments related to the give topics which paved way for a prolific discussion and building up of knowledge.

Some of the important point of arguments that were put forward by the students were that overpopulation will lead to the overconsumption of resources, which can also be linked to the SDG goal 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, which focusses on population management to ensure sustainability. In counter to this, the students who were speaking for the motion had raised an important argument that under population will impact economic growth due to reduced workforce in various sectors. The students even posed questions to each other based on the arguments put forward.

Overall, the activity turned out to be a great learning experience for the students as an interactive discussion was conducted through the medium of debate and students gained a deeper understanding of the challenges posed by population growth and its impact on society, resources and environment. The activity fostered in students a sense of responsibility towards sustainable practices and made them develop empathy and respect for diverse perspectives on this complex global issue.

The theme "United Against Terrorism" underscores the global need for unity and cooperation in the fight against terrorism. In today's interconnected world, no country is immune to the threats posed by terrorism, making it imperative for nations to work together to combat this menace. This theme set the tone for our educational activities, aiming to instill in students the importance of international collaboration against terrorism.

To further educate and inspire our students about the critical role of the United Nations, a documentary on the United Nations Organization was shown to the Class 5 students in the best school in Noida. The documentary provided a comprehensive overview of the UNO's history, its organizational structure, and its significant contributions to global peacekeeping, humanitarian aid, and development.

Following the documentary, a quiz focusing on the United Nations Organization was conducted for the Class 5 students on the 8th of May 2024. The quiz was designed to assess and deepen the students' knowledge about the UNO. It featured a mix of multiple choice questions and one-word answer questions, covering a range of topics from the formation and functions of the United Nations to the specific roles of its various agencies. The students participated enthusiastically, demonstrating a keen interest in the subject matter.

In conclusion, the theme "United against Terrorism" provided a meaningful context for our educational activities, emphasizing the importance of global unity making it one of  the top ten CBSE schools in Noida. The documentary on the United Nations and the subsequent quiz for Class 5 were both successful in enhancing the students' knowledge and interest in international organizations and their roles in promoting global peace and security.

Gratitude enriches our lives, fostering appreciation and thankfulness for the good we receive. Expressing gratitude to others makes us happier and calmer, welcoming positivity into our lives.

On Mother's Day, a special gratitude card-making activity was organized for Class I and II students. This event aimed to encourage children to express their love and appreciation for their mothers through heartfelt messages and creative artwork.

The students were guided by their teachers on how to create gratitude cards. They were encouraged to think about why they love their mothers and what makes them special. Teachers also shared ideas for messages and designs, but the children were given the freedom to create in their own unique way.

The gratitude card-making activity was a resounding success. It not only allowed children to showcase their artistic talents but also encouraged them to reflect on the invaluable role their mothers play in their lives. This activity promoted empathy, gratitudeamong young minds, fostering a culture of love and appreciation within the school community.

Every human on this Earth has a right to a healthy living. The choice to avail that right, however, lies with the people themselves.The students of classes III and IV studying in Bal Bharati Public School, the best School in Noida participated in poster making competition on the theme Breathe Free, Live Tobacco-Free. In the poster-making activity, students used vibrant colors and creative designs to convey powerful messages about the dangers of tobacco. They illustrated the harmful effects on the human body and the importance of maintaining a tobacco-free life. Some posters featured slogans and imagery depicting healthy lungs versus damaged lungs, while others highlighted the benefits of fresh air and a clean environment. The activity allowed students to express their understanding and commitment to promoting a healthier lifestyle in the best school in Uttar Pradesh .

During the Bal Sabha period, students brought their creativity and knowledge to the forefront. They used vibrant colors and innovative designs to convey powerful messages. Posters illustrated the harmful effects of tobacco on the human body and emphasized the importance of a tobacco-free life. Students demonstrated remarkable creativity, depicting contrasts between healthy lungs and those damaged by tobacco.

The poster-making competition was a success, engaging students in a meaningful activity that combined creativity with health education. By participating, students showcased their commitment to promoting a tobacco-free life and demonstrated their understanding of the importance of healthy living. The International Day for Monuments and Sites, widely recognized as World Heritage Day, serves as a global commemoration on April 18th every year, marked by diverse activities worldwide. These include immersive visits to iconic monuments and cherished heritage sites, engaging conservation efforts, and various educational initiatives. Our school enthusiastically joined in the celebration, igniting a spirit of reverence and joy for our cultural treasures.

In a captivating showcase, the students of Class V took center stage, embodying various world heritage sites with remarkable creativity. Dressed as living monuments, they eloquently portrayed their assigned sites, delivering insightful narratives within a concise time frame of 1.5 minutes each.

Towards the end, teachers treated the eager students to a visually captivating video showcasing renowned heritage sites from around the globe. The classroom buzzed with excitement as the students marveled at these iconic landmarks, their imaginations ignited by the rich tapestry of world culture and history. Fueled by this visual feast, the students enthusiastically engaged in the activity, pouring their creativity and passion into their presentations. This fun-loving activity not only allowed students to showcase their talents but also provided a unique platform for them to think creatively and express   themselves beyond conventional boundaries.

Recycling and reusing materials are some of the most effective methods to safeguard our planet. In observance of Earth Day, students of grades 3 and 4 engaged in an envelope-making activity using old wedding or party cards, which served as a delightful and educational means to explore the concept of sustainability.

Envelope crafting served as an engaging and educational experience for third and fourth-grade students. This activity fostered their artistic expression, creativity, and practical life skills development. By repurposing old wedding cards into envelopes, they gained valuable insights into the significance of recycling and the fulfillment of creating something novel.

The activity was designed to spark the imaginations of our young artists. Under the guidance of their teachers, the students embarked on a creative adventure, utilizing their artistic talents to transform old wedding cards into unique and personalized envelopes by adding their own special touches and decorations.

Introducing primary students to World Health Day holds paramount importance in fostering a lifelong commitment to well-being. This global observance offers a unique opportunity to instill awareness and understanding of health-related issues from an early age. Empowering students at the foundational stage with this knowledge not only promotes healthier life styles but also cultivates a generation of informed global citizens invested in collective well-being.

On World Health Day, primary students engaged in a vibrant paper pasting activity aimed at promoting awareness about healthy lifestyles. They were guided to paste the paper cutouts in fruits and vegetables and draw sleeping lines to represent water in the drawing of a water bottle.

Through this hands-on experience, the students not only showcased their creativity but also learned about the significance of nutritious diet and physical activity for overall well-being.

Through this activity conducted on World Health Day, students gained knowledge about various fruits and their nutritional benefits, fostering awareness of healthy food choices. They also developed fine motor skills and creativity while creating vibrant fruit collages, promoting artistic expression and appreciation for wholesome eating habits.

The Bal Sabha activity titled “Our School, Our Joy” was conducted on April 10, 2024 to encourage students to express their joy and pride for their school through the art of poster making.

The activity was organized for the students of classes III-V where students had the opportunity to reflect on their school experiences and translate those emotions into art. All the students eagerly participated in the activity, exhibiting creativity as they sketched and coloured on the A-4 sized sheets.

The posters well-presented students’ love for their school and a unique perspective of each child. It was mesmerizing to witness that the posters depicted various elements of school which hold significance for each child such as swimming pool, playground, lunch boxes, books, friends, teachers, classroom, trophy and much more. The posters were not just visually striking but deeply meaningful as well.

The activity was a rich experience which enhanced not just artistic and creative skills but strengthened a sense of belonging in students. The tinted sheets stood as a testimony of the fact that the school is a nurturing and safe space for the students. The activity was successful in establishing the power of art to inspire, unite and uplift.

REPORT VISIT TO NATIONAL LEVEL INSPIRE AWARD MANAK EXHIBITION

On 17th September 2024, a group of nine students, along with Mr. Umesh Verma, had the privilege of visiting the National Level INSPIRE Award MANAK Exhibition held at Bharat Mandapam, Pragati Maidan. This event provided a platform for young innovators from all over the country to showcase their scientific ideas and creative projects.

We travelled to the venue by school bus and were greeted by an impressive collection of exhibits. These projects spanned various domains such as environmental conservation, healthcare, sustainable energy, and education, exhibited by students of various states of our country. Each exhibit reflected the dedication, creativity, and problem-solving capabilities of the young participants who were striving to make a difference in society through their innovative solutions.

One of the standout projects for our group was a low-cost fire extinguishing drone, designed to combat fires using Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Computer Vision (CV) and Natural Language Processing (NLP). This drone could identify fire locations and extinguish them using carbon dioxide, showcasing a promising solution for managing fire-related disasters. Another notable project addressed waste management by proposing a method to convert sugarcane waste into bricks, which could be used for building houses.

The exhibition was a valuable learning experience that broadened our understanding of scientific innovation and its practical applications. It not only encouraged us to think creatively about how science can solve real-world problems but also inspired us to pursue our own innovative ideas.

Overall, the visit to the INSPIRE Award MANAK Exhibition was an enriching experience filled with knowledge, exploration, and inspiration. We left with a deeper appreciation for the role of science and technology in shaping a better future.

Purpose- The interactive activities enriched their understanding of scientific and environmental concepts while fostering teamwork, creativity, and critical thinking. Highlights of the Event-

 “Grammar Groove- Parts of Speech Musical Chair”

Students participated in a game called Parts of Speech - Musical Chair. Flashcards labeled with parts of speech, such as nouns, verbs, and adjectives, were placed on chairs. As the music played, students moved around the chairs, and when the music stopped, they sat down and provided a sentence using the part of speech on their chair. This activity enabled students to identify and differentiate the eight parts of speech while enhancing their grammar skills. Additionally, their listening and quick response abilities improved, and the group dynamics promoted teamwork and social interaction.

The activity focused on भारतीय राज्य एवं त्यौहार. Students researched five harvesting festivals celebrated in different states of India and illustrated their work on A4 sheets with pictures or drawings. They also wrote short descriptions about each festival and presented them in class. This activity allowed students to explore the cultural richness of India, improved their research and presentation skills, and encouraged creativity while fostering a sense of pride in Indian traditions.

Math Mosaic Magic - Perimeter & Fractions Fun

The activity titled Mosaic Math Marvels brought together creativity and numerical skills. Students used colored square pieces to design mosaics depicting living creatures. After completing their artwork, they calculated the perimeter and identified fractions involved in their designs. This engaging task not only deepened their understanding of mathematical concepts like perimeter and fractions but also enhanced their spatial awareness and problem-solving skills. Teamwork and creativity flourished as students collaborated to create intricate mosaics.

Science: Sundial Stories - Exploring Shadows and Time

The Science activity, Shadow Clock Chronicles, involved constructing sundials to observe the sun’s movement and how it affected shadow direction and length throughout the day. This practical exercise provided a hands-on understanding of Earth’s rotation and its relationship with time. Students developed inquiry-based learning skills and gained valuable insights into the interdisciplinary connection between science (Earth’s movements) and mathematics (time measurement). The activity also encouraged curiosity and experiential learning.

Cultural Quest - Balloon Relay Adventure

In Social Studies, the activity Cultural Relay with Balloon Fun was designed to combine learning with teamwork and excitement. Students prepared riddles related to Indian culture and traditions, which were placed inside balloons. Teams participated in a relay race where they popped balloons, solved riddles, and advanced to the next station. The first team to complete three riddles won the game. This activity encouraged students to explore India’s cultural diversity while sharpening their critical thinking and problem-solving skills. It also fostered teamwork and enthusiasm, making learning a delightful experience.

Matra Magic in Action

Children used postcard-sized flashcards depicting various letters (both swar and vyanjan). Working collaboratively, they formed different words, which enhanced their eye-hand coordination and group collaboration skills. This engaging activity reinforced their understanding of different matras and provided a playful approach to learning spellings.

Math Quest: The Treasure Trail

Armed with a treasure map and clue cards featuring simple addition problems, students embarked on an adventurous hunt across the classroom. Divided into teams, they worked together to solve sums and uncover treasures like stickers, pencils and erasers. This thrilling activity combined teamwork with a fun way to strengthen math skills, making learning an exciting adventure!

Dive into Discovery: Sink or Float

Students brought a variety of objects—safety pins, wooden logs, pebbles, and plastic rulers—to test in a hands-on experiment. They observed which items sank or floated in water, starting with a lively discussion on swimming. This engaging activity ignited curiosity, fostered critical thinking, and unveiled the science behind the fascinating concept of sinking and floating.

Sentence Formation Skills:

Class 3 students engaged in a sentence formation activity to enhance their language skills. Teachers created flash-cards with words that needed to be arranged into correct sentences. Students were given two minutes to form as many grammatically correct sentences as possible, focusing on subject-verb agreement. This activity not only improved their sentence structure but also boosted their confidence in language usage.

Colourful Festivals

Students connected the names of months with corresponding festivals, thereby familiarizing themselves with the months and gaining insights into the festivals celebrated in each. They explored the cultural significance of various festivals and discussed how these celebrations reflect India’s diversity. On an A4 sheet, they created a colorful and detailed list matching the months with their respective festivals, showcasing their creativity and understanding.

Additionally, students shared their findings with their peers, discussing how different festivals are celebrated across regions. This activity not only enhanced their knowledge of Indian festivals but also fostered an appreciation for cultural traditions and diversity.

Water in our Lives : Shape of the Water

As part of the EVS topic Water in Our Lives, students explored the concepts of the shape and capacity of water through engaging activities.

In the first activity, students observed that water takes the shape of the container it is poured into, yet its quantity remains unchanged. This hands-on experience helped them understand the adaptable nature of water's shape. In the second activity, students revisited the famous story of the *Thirsty Crow.* Inspired by the crow’s ingenuity, they added pebbles to a container of water, raising its level, thus learning about displacement. Both activities were thoughtfully designed to provide experiential learning, fostering curiosity and a deeper understanding of water's properties.

Measurement of weight: Exploring weight and measurement with grocery items

In this hands-on activity, students explored the concept of weight and practiced measuring using everyday grocery items. They worked with items such as rice, flour, sugar, etc along with a weighing scale, to understand how weight is measured in grams and kilograms. The activity involved estimating the weights of individual items and comparing them. Through this activity, students learned Units of Weight, Practical Application of Measurement also observed improved Estimation and Observation Skills

Conclusion: The activities organized were in line with the NEP 2020’s focus on experiential learning. These activities not only encouraged creativity and problem-solving skills but also helped students develop a greater understanding and appreciation of the world around them. By moving beyond the traditional classroom environment, students were able to engage with the curriculum in a more interactive and meaningful manner.

Highlights of the Event:
Word Hunt: In English bagless day activity, students were familiarised with the genre of humours poetry/ verse through the poem Muddlehead by Ogden Nash. This activity was undertaken as a vocabulary enhancement activity which was focussed on building the vocabulary of the students. The poem was read and discussed in the class and then the students were engaged in the word hunt activity wherein the students wrote all the difficult vocabulary words on flashcards. Then the students were asked to build a small vocabulary wall on the class display board by placing the words on the board. The students enthusiastically participated in the activity and creatively placed the words on the board. The vocabulary words were then discussed in the class with their meaning and usage.

Language word play: Language Game-Slip Game Under this activity: In this activity for Hindi, students had to take out a slip from a small pot on which sentences using punctuation marks were written and some instructional words were also written. According to which, those sentences had to be read out in the class with proper expressions and intonation. For example, it was written in one slip that 'It is very late today, Mayank has not yet returned home.' Below this sentence was written 'getting worried/troubled'. Similarly, in the second slip it was written - 'Mother, someone has come.' And below this sentence was written 'in a loud voice or in anger' etc. Through this activity, students were able to read the sentence with proper expressions, pauses, enthusiasm, excitement. They were able to experience the changes that take place while reading. It helped in making the class environment joyful.

Grid Quest- The Area Adventure: A fun activity was conducted in mathematics as students got engaged in a practical activity by measuring the sides of a book, table, windows, doors, and sections of the floor to calculate their perimeters. This hands-on exercise helped them understand the concept of perimeter in a real-world context. Working in small groups, they used measuring tapes and recorded their findings systematically. The activity enhanced their problem-solving skills and collaborative learning. Students thoroughly enjoyed applying math to their surroundings, deepening their conceptual understanding.

Catapult Craze: Launch into Physics: Students learned how a catapult functions as a simple machine, combining levers and fulcrums to demonstrate principles of force and motion. Students were explained how a catapult functions as a lever, identifying the fulcrum, load, and effort. They were able to demonstrate force, tension, and energy transfer by building and adjusting catapults. Students were able to develop design &problem-solving skills as they experimented with catapult designs to improve performance by adjusting the lever and fulcrum.

Traffic Safety Skit:  In SST, a creative skit was organised where students performed a skit on traffic safety. The students acted out different traffic situations, emphasizing the importance of following rules, wearing helmets, crossing safely, etc. Through role-play, students were able to learn about different road signs and understand how following safety measures keeps everyone safe. They were able to identify common road signs and understand their significance in everyday life. By working in groups students were able to develop collaboration and communication abilities and got prepared to apply road safety knowledge as pedestrians and future drivers.

Conclusion: Bagless Day was an enriching learning experience for the students offering a distinctive and experimentative learning to the learners. The planned activities provided a hands-on learning experience and fostered creativity, cognitive development along with developing awareness and understanding among learners about the surrounding environment.

By considering real-life decision-making scenarios, students reflected on the poet’s fear of regret and the uncertainty of outcomes. They enjoyed making thoughtful choices and discussing their reasoning, which deepened their understanding of the poem and encouraged critical thinking about how choices shape our lives.

Honoring Heroes: Celebrating Freedom Fighters Through Hindi Language Display

As part of Hindi language activity, students created a display on "Freedom Fighters," a display of pictures that allowed them to learn about India’s freedom fighters and their sacrifices. This activity aimed to foster patriotism and introduce students to courageous female warriors, inspiring pride and respect for the nation’s history. It also instill a sense of nationalism and importance of preserving the values they fought for.

Geometry in Art: Crafting Symmetrical Rangoli to Explore Math Concepts

In a creative geometry lesson, students crafted symmetrical rangoli patterns using cardboard cutouts and decorative materials. By arranging symmetrical designs, they developed planning and problem-solving skills. This hands-on approach integrated math concepts like symmetry, proportion, and repetition, strengthening their foundational understanding of geometry.

Leveraging Learning: Building Simple Machines to Explore Physics Concepts

In the DIY Levers activity, students built simple lever systems using ice cream sticks, rubber bands, and pen caps. This interactive lesson introduced them to the three types of levers and demonstrated the relationship between effort, load, and fulcrum. By experimenting and recording observations, students enhanced their grasp of basic physics concepts and developed critical thinking and teamwork skills.

The Land of Sand: Quiz Mania

Students created a historical timeline from 1914-1945, marking key events of World War I and World War II. This timeline project clarified major global events, emphasizing the importance of the United Nations in promoting peace. The activity helped students connect past events with present-day efforts for international harmony.

Adjective Storytelling:
The adjective-enriched storytelling activity aimed to enhance students' vocabulary, creativity, and teamwork. Students were divided into groups and given a starting sentence. Each group member took turns adding to the story, using as many descriptive adjectives as possible. The activity successfully achieved its objectives, fostering a love of language and literature. Students demonstrated improved vocabulary, imaginative storytelling, and effective teamwork.

A balanced diet is the key to health
Class III students participated in a fun, Hindi language-based activity on the lesson Plate of Food, to learn about the importance of balanced and nutritious food. The teacher used a PPT to explain how different foods help us stay healthy. A food pyramid showed which foods are good for our health. Students brought their favourite nutritious foods in their tiffins, and two plates were set up: one for healthy foods and the other for junk foods. Through this, the teacher demonstrated the difference between balanced and junk food. This activity helped students understand the benefits of healthy food and the harms of junk food.

Where do I Go? Finding Direction
Students were taken to the playground to learn about the different directions and how we check the same. They were introduced to weather wane and how does it work. Using a compass the four main directions were determined and the weather wane was set accordingly. The direction of the cock helped students understand how do we determine the direction of the wind. The activity also helped students understand the directions in reference to the school. They were able to answer the questions like from where does the sun rises and where does it set.

Understanding Division Through Grouping!
Students participated in a fun and engaging "Division through Grouping" activity based on the concept of division. In this activity, Class 3 students learned about division by grouping themselves into smaller equal groups. The teacher asked them to divide the total number of students into groups of 2, 3, 4, or 5. The students counted how many students were in each group (quotient) and checked if anyone was left out (remainder). This hands-on activity helped them understand how division works by equal sharing. Students recorded their results on a worksheet, making the concept of division fun and easy to understand. This activity also helped develop their critical thinking skills.

Puppet Show on Dental Health
An in-house puppet show was organized to highlight the importance of dental hygiene. Students learned about proper brushing techniques and were encouraged to practice gargling and brushing. Paper Airplane Flying and Length Measurement

Students were engaged in a captivating role play activity based on the lesson "Magic Vessels." To enhance their understanding and appreciation of the story, children were assigned specific roles, such as the King, Tenali Raman, villagers etc. To further enhance the theatrical dimension of the activity, students embellished their attire with vibrant crowns and props that resonated with their assigned characters. Additionally, meticulous attention was paid to vocal delivery, with students meticulously practicing the intonation and expressions most befitting their roles. Through collaborative group work, students honed their capacity for cooperation and mutual support. Furthermore, this activity served as a valuable platform for developing the students' ability to express themselves with clarity and confidence.

A Botanical Excursion: Exploring the Medicinal Flora
The third-grade students embarked on an educational journey into the world of medicinal plants through a Hindi language presentation delivered via PowerPoint. The session elucidated the various benefits associated with these plants, culminating in a group-based quiz designed to assess comprehension. The students, then,  were taken on a nature walk in the school’s garden. During this exploration, diverse plant species and leaves were introduced to the young learners. The school gardener, a knowledgeable expert, was invited to guide the students in understanding proper garden maintenance practices and the essential care required for nurturing their plant companions.

Animal Dumb Charades
The students participated in an engaging game of charades based on the EVS chapter “The World of Animals" chapter. This interactive activity served as a means of assessing the students' comprehension of various animal characteristics. The class was divided into teams, each of which had the opportunity to nominate a representative. The chosen representative would select a slip containing a specific animal characteristic, and subsequently, the student would enact the corresponding animal. The remaining team members were tasked with identifying the animal based on the enacted cues. This game proved to be an effective reinforcement of the theoretical knowledge acquired from the chapter, fostering a deeper association between animal characteristics and their respective species. Additionally, the activity contributed to the solidification and crystallization of the students' understanding.

Roll an Array
Students participated in a fun and engaging "Roll and Array" activity based on the concept of multiplication. Each student brought two dice to class and used them to explore multiplication through visual representation. When instructed by the teacher, students rolled both dice and recorded the numbers they obtained on a grid sheet. They then represented the numbers in terms of rows and columns, forming an array. Clay Matras
To solidify their understanding of Hindi consonants (vyanjans) and vowel modifiers (matras), students participated in a hands-on classroom activity using clay. By sculpting the clay into various consonants and matras, they were able to enhance their comprehension through a tactile and creative learning experience. This interactive approach not only provided conceptual clarity but also improved their fine motor skills. Shapes Exploration
Students explored the solid shapes provided in the Math Kit and accurately identified each shape by name. They were able to connect these shapes to everyday objects in their surroundings. The identified shapes included a cone, cylinder, cuboid, cube, and sphere. This hands-on activity enabled students to physically interact with the various dimensions of each shape, thereby deepening their comprehension of three-dimensional objects. They greatly appreciated the interactive nature of the lesson, which made learning geometry both engaging and enjoyable.

Celebrate and Create
Students created vivid drawings of their favourite festivals and adorned them with vibrant colours. They expressed their thoughts about their selected festivals in a few sentences. The activity commenced with a lively song, followed by a discussion on the diverse types of festivals celebrated in India. To conclude, a video showcasing festivals was presented in the class.  This activity not only refined speaking skills but also nurtured cognitive development, stimulated creativity and enhanced motor skills. Report on KCCI (Korean Cultural Centre India) Visit

The tourist takes his culture with him while the traveler leaves his culture behind’

The students of Classes VI, VII and VIII recently had the incredible opportunity to visit the Korean Cultural Centre India (KCCI). It was a day filled with excitement and cultural exploration. From the moment we stepped into the center, we were immersed in the vibrant and fascinating world of Korean culture. One of the highlights of our visit was learning about traditional Korean music. We were mesmerized by the beautiful melodies played by our classmates on various Korean instruments like jingo, kkwaenggwari, buk and jing. The music was so enchanting that it transported us to a different world. We also had the chance to try on traditional Korean attire, called Hanbok. It was a lot of fun to feel like Korean royalty for a while! The Hanbok were so colorful and elegant. We felt a sense of pride and connection to Korean culture as we walked around in our new outfits.                                                                                                                                                     

We also had the opportunity to participate in various traditional Korean games like tuho, jegichagi and various others games. These games were a lot of fun and a great way to experience Korean culture firsthand. We enjoyed playing games that involved skill, strategy, and teamwork. It was a unique and memorable experience.

Taekwondo was a significant part of our visit. We spent a considerable amount of time learning basic techniques, self-defense moves, and even some advanced kicks like front kick and roundhouse kick. Under the guidance of experienced instructors, we quickly progressed in our skills. We were amazed by the power, precision, and discipline required in this martial art.

The KCCI library was a treasure trove of information. We spent hours exploring the shelves, discovering a wide range of books on Korean culture. The library staff was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable, guiding us through the vast collection. We were particularly fascinated by the diverse selection of books that covered various aspects of Korean life and society.

We couldn't leave without trying some delicious Korean food. The lunch we had was absolutely amazing. The food was a delightful blend of flavors and textures that we had never experienced before. We ate different foods like fried rice, chaach, black bean noodles and jeon. It was a truly unique culinary experience that left us wanting more.

Our visit to KCCI was a fantastic opportunity to learn about Korean culture and have fun. We are grateful for the experience and hope to visit again in the future. The cultural immersion we experienced has broadened our horizons and sparked a newfound interest in Korean culture. We will cherish the memories of this unforgettable day for years to come.

Massive plantation campaign will improve ground water level, awareness towards care of plants is increasing : Manish Kumar Verma, IAS District Magistrate, Gautam Budh Nagar, Uttar Pradesh

NCR- Gautam Budh Nagar, Aug 14 . Plants not only provide oxygen, greenery, clean air, they are helpful in balancing the temperature, while they also play an important role in improving the ground water level. Therefore, plant as many trees as possible and also take the responsibility of taking care of the plants that have been planted, only then they will grow up and become capable of giving us fruits, flowers and shade.

District Magistrate of Gautam Budh Nagar IAS Manish Kumar Verma expressed this view in the plantation ceremony ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ organized by Jal Prahari in Bal Bharti Public School, Noida.

Manish Kumar Verma said that social, industrial organizations are coming forward for plantation and greenery in Gautam Budh Nagar. He appealed to the social organizations to plant trees and said that this effort of Jal Prahari on the call of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi is commendable because if the ground water level has to be improved, then maximum number of trees will have to be planted.

Manish Kumar Verma watched a presentation on the importance of environment prepared by the school children and in his brief address told how he learnt the importance of taking care of plants and water conservation from his school teachers and his mother. He said, mothers inculcate in us the values ​​of becoming successful people and in the same way, Mother Earth holds groundwater through plantation so that we can provide water to our children.

As a partner under the National Water Mission campaign of the Ministry of Jal Shakti, Jal Prahari, Climate Adaptation Project, Sarkaritel.com organized this plantation campaign in collaboration with Bal Bharti Public School.

On this occasion, the coordinator of Jal Prahari, Anil Singh and the Chief Executive Officer of Sarkaritel.com, Ameya Sathaye also planted trees.

Referring to the efforts of the school, the school’s principal Jal Prahari Asha Prabhakar said that as Jal Prahari, the school has made many efforts for water conservation and promotion and now it is ready for a bigger role in plantation. She requested the District Magistrate that they are ready to take responsibility for the extensive campaign of plantation of trees on the banks of Hindon River.

This green initiative aimed to encourage students to contribute to environmental conservation by planting trees and understanding the importance of greenery in sustaining life on Earth.

The "Ek Ped Ma Ke Naam" initiative was a grand success, fostering a sense of responsibility towards the environment among students. The collective efforts of the students, teachers, and the community have significantly contributed to the school's green initiative. Continuous monitoring and care will ensure that the saplings grow into healthy trees, benefiting future generations.

OBJECTIVE OF THE SESSION:

The main objective of the Session was to guide and inspire students as they prepare for their Board exams, while also equipping them for competitive exams like CUET.  The session aimed to raise awareness about the new CBSE Board pattern and provide motivation, guidance, and direction to help students enhance the quality of their studies and achieve success.

OVERVIEW OF THE SESSION:

On 6th September 2024, Dr. Vikas Vijay, author of Together with Accountancy and a distinguished speaker, interacted with the students of Class XII C, to offer guidance for their upcoming exams. He delivered an insightful presentation, meticulously dissecting the CBSE Sample Question Paper and providing practical strategies for exam preparation. To further motivate the students, he drew inspiration from iconic figures such as Muhammad Ali, using their journeys to instill confidence and inspire success.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE SESSION:

He conveyed his message by focusing on four key principles: Potential, Action, Belief, and the Will to Study. He explained that students must first recognize their own potential, then take deliberate and consistent actions toward their goals. Belief in oneself, paired with the determination to study, forms the foundation for success. These four principles, he emphasized, are critical not only for excelling in exams but also for achieving personal and professional growth.

Career Opportunities:

The team provided in-depth insights into career opportunities available after 12th grade, discussing a variety of colleges and their respective admission processes. They guided students on how to explore different academic and professional pathways based on their interests and strengths. Additionally, they organized a short quiz featuring questions from the general test section of CUET, offering students a hands-on experience of the type of questions they might encounter.

Quiz:

Dr. Vikas provided students with a series of essential MCQ questions, many of which had appeared in previous Class 12 Board exams and CBSE Sample Question Papers. These questions were designed to help students familiarize themselves with the exam format and improve their problem-solving skills. Through this exercise, he aimed to boost their confidence and readiness for the upcoming exams.

CBSE Sample Question Paper:

In addition, Dr. Vikas shared a wealth of valuable tips on effective exam preparation, offering strategic study methods and assigning tasks to help students organize their learning. He kept the session engaging by interspersing it with lighthearted jokes, creating a relaxed yet focused atmosphere. Drawing inspiration from the lives of legends like Milkha Singh and Muhammad Ali, he motivated the students with powerful life lessons on perseverance and determination. He also discussed key topics and types of questions that are likely to appear in the upcoming board exams, giving students an edge in their preparation. His guidance provided both practical insights and a boost in confidence for the challenges ahead.

APPRAISAL:

The session lasted for four hours, and it felt so engaging that many students wished it could have continued longer. By the end, a few students who answered questions correctly during the session were rewarded with CBSE Sample Papers and guides on Business Studies and Accountancy. Dr. Vikas and his team also took the opportunity to pose for pictures with the students, adding a personal touch to the informative and interactive experience.

REFLECTION AND FEEDBACK:

The students provided positive feedback and reflections on the session, expressing appreciation for the valuable insights and practical advice shared by Dr.  Vikas. They noted that the session was highly informative and engaging, with the interactive elements and motivational stories from prominent figures like Milkha Singh and Muhammad Ali being particularly impactful. Many students mentioned that they felt more confident and prepared for their exams after the session.

CONCLUSION:

In conclusion, the Session led by Dr. Vikas Vijay was highly successful, offering valuable insights and practical advice for exam preparation. The engaging content, including motivational stories and interactive elements, resonated well with students. Positive feedback highlighted the session’s effectiveness in boosting confidence and readiness. The event clearly met its objectives, leaving students eager for more such opportunities. The RiseUp4Peace Education Stakeholders’ Round table workshop took place on 17 September 2024 at Tagore International School, East of Kailash. The event brought together educators from various organizations to discuss the incorporation of Sustainable Development Goal 16 (SDG 16) – focusing on peace, justice, and strong institutions in the school curricula.

The workshop aimed to cultivate a culture of peace, integrity, and respect for the rule of law among young minds, with a special focus on equipping students to actively contribute to peaceful, just, and sustainable societies.

Registration and Opening Ceremony

The workshop commenced with a formal registration process, followed by a ceremonial lighting of the lamp, symbolizing the collective commitment to peace and education.

Welcome Note

The welcome address was delivered by  Ms. Mallika Preman, Principal of Tagore International School, East of Kailash, who extended a warm welcome to all participants. Ms. Preman set the tone for the day, highlighting the crucial role that educational institutions play in shaping the values and mindset of future generations. She emphasized that creating a conducive environment to enhance students mental wellbeing and embedding the principles of SDG 16 into the classroom experience would help foster a generation of young individuals who are not only academically capable but also socially responsible and ethically driven.

Keynote Address

The keynote address on "RiseUp4Peace Education Stakeholders’: Promoting a Culture of Peace, Health Integrity, and the Rule of Law in Young Children" was delivered by Mr. Marco Teixeira, the Regional Representative for South Asia at the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC). Mr. Teixeira underscored the importance of SDG 16 in ensuring that societies are inclusive, peaceful, and just. He spoke about the critical role that education plays in raising awareness among young people about peace, human rights, and justice. According to Mr. Teixeira, children are more receptive to values of fairness, inclusion, and non-violence when these principles are integrated into their educational experiences from an early age. He urged educators to consider SDG 16 not as an abstract concept but as an actionable framework that can transform how students perceive their role in the world.

Presentation: Why Education on SDG 16 Matters

The next presentation, titled "Inspiring Action and Building Resilience in Young People: Why Education on SDG 16 Matters," was delivered by Mr. Samarth Pathak, Communications Officer (South Asia) at UNODC. Mr. Pathak highlighted the importance of teaching SDG 16 for developing future leaders and fostering qualities such as conflict resolution, negotiation, and advocacy for human rights, peace, and justice. He emphasized that educating students on SDG 16 enables them to identify the root causes of violence, conflict, and inequality, allowing them to actively prevent disputes and promote peaceful coexistence in their communities. Students who are aware of human rights are more likely to challenge corruption and injustice. Mr. Pathak also pointed out the interconnectedness of global challenges and how SDG 16 aligns with the values of global citizenship. He concluded by stressing that peaceful societies are crucial for achieving other SDGs, inspiring young people to contribute to broader sustainable development efforts.

National Education Policy 2020: Policy Reflections

Following the presentation on SDG 16, Dr. Satya Bhushan, Assistant Professor in the International Relations Division at NCERT, provided reflections on India’s National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and National curriculum framework for School Education. He described NEP 2020 as a transformative document that seeks to align the Indian education system with the needs of the 21st century. Dr. Bhushan discussed key aspects of the policy, including its emphasis on holistic, flexible, and multidisciplinary education. Dr. Bhushan also touched upon the NEP’s focus on digital and online learning, and teacher training. He explained that the policy’s success depends on effective implementation, with special attention needed to ensure that equity and inclusion are prioritized. This would ensure that all students, regardless of their socio-economic background, can access quality education.

Virtual Messages on Equity and Inclusivity

The event also featured virtual messages from prominent public figures-Suniel Shetty, a renowned Indian actor, and Saina Nehwal, an iconic badminton player, who shared their thoughts on equity and inclusivity in education. Their messages focused on the importance of ensuring that every student, regardless of their background or abilities, must have access to the same educational opportunities. They emphasized that education should not just impart academic knowledge but should also foster a sense of empathy, inclusion, and respect for all individuals.

Disability Inclusion in Classrooms: Youth Voice

One of the highlights of the consultation was a presentation on disability inclusion by Ms. Aarushi Gambhir, a UNODC RiseUp4Peace Champion and founder of Enable Education. Her presentation, titled "Perspectives on Disability Inclusion in Classrooms: Youth Voice," shed light on the challenges faced by students with disabilities and the importance of fostering inclusive classroom environments. Ms. Gambhir advocated for breaking down stereotypes and promoting accessibility, not just in terms of physical infrastructure but also in social and academic interactions. She shared insights into how young people can drive change by advocating for the rights and inclusion of students with disabilities.

Student Presentations on Inclusivity and Mental Health

Students from Tagore International School showcased initiatives under the Active Minds and Aatman programs, focusing on mental health and inclusivity. The initiatives included activities like positive tree activity, write and tear, yoga sessions, anti-bullying rallies, and collaborations with NGOs such as Noida Deaf Society, Ananth, Samarpan, ANON and NAZ - breaking barriers to address mental health issues and breaking societal barriers. These presentations highlighted how schools can foster an environment of inclusivity by promoting mental health awareness and providing support for students facing mental health challenges.

Interactive Dialogue: Good Practices in SDG 16 Education

Breakout Group Activity and Recommendations

An interactive dialogue session, moderated by Mr. Samarth Pathak, provided a platform for schools to share innovative practices in SDG 16 education. Participants were divided into groups and asked to focus on specific themes such as peace, gender equality, mental health, cyber security, and anti-discrimination. The discussion underscored the need for collaboration and the exchange of ideas between schools to promote good practices in SDG 16 education.

In the final session, participants engaged in a breakout activity to brainstorm actionable ideas for mainstreaming SDG 16 education in schools. Groups focused on integrating themes like peace, lawfulness, ethics, mental health, and digital literacy into curricula, emphasizing continuous teacher training, student engagement, and partnerships with organizations like UNODC. The interactive sessions shared inspiring stories on fostering inclusive, non-violent school environments. Case studies showcased innovative peace education efforts, but a consensus emerged on the need for systemic implementation across all schools.

A key concern was ensuring schools are safe for all students, addressing bullying, gender-based violence, and discrimination. The  importance of mental health and inclusivity through peer-led initiatives, along with partnerships with NGOs was also emphasized. The positive role of technology was also emphasized, urging schools to leverage digital platforms for promoting peace, justice, and responsible digital citizenship.

The importance of guiding students in digital and media literacy was stressed, as students need to critically assess online information, recognize misinformation, and understand the ethical use of media. This literacy is vital in fostering a culture of respect and accountability, enabling students to navigate the digital world with integrity.

Final Reflections and Vote of Thanks

In conclusion, the RiseUp4Peace Education Stakeholders’ Consultation was an event that brought education for peace, justice, and integrity to the forefront of discussions about the future of schooling in India. It served as a powerful reminder that achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 16, will require a concerted effort from all sectors of society, including educational institutions. By empowering students to be peacebuilders, ethical leaders, and advocates for justice, schools have the potential to create a ripple effect that extends far beyond the classroom, contributing to the creation of a more peaceful, just, and sustainable world.

The consultation concluded with a commitment from all stakeholders to take forward the ideas and recommendations generated during the event and to continue working together to mainstream SDG 16 in education. As the participants departed, there was a shared sense of optimism that the future of education in India could indeed be one that nurtures not only academic success but also the values of peace, justice, and inclusivity that are so critical to building a better world.
